The Vale Partnership is involved in a number of projects to improve local quality of life

Neighbourhood Policing

South Abingdon and Drayton, Appleford and Sutton Courtenay make up the first neighbourhood policing area in the Vale. They come under one neighbourhood action group (NAG) which is taking their chosen priorities forward.

The NAG includes police, local council representatives, residents, partner agencies and other key members of the local community. The group meets regularly and will give regular feedback to the community about how their priorities are being taken forward. Membership is fluid and may change as the work progresses.

The NAG works on three priorities chosen by the public at a time. Public consultation took place across the area, questionnaires were sent out and public meetings were held in order to include the views of as many people as possible and including as wide a cross section of the community as possible.

The priorities chosen by the local community for these areas currently being worked on by the NAG are:

Speeding - Drayton
Speeding - Sutton Courtenay
Antisocial behaviour - South Abingdon

Supporting Community Projects

If you have a community project in need of financial support the Council may be able to help. There is a limited budget available for grant aid and the Council also has expertise available to help you apply for funding from other bodies like the Big Lottery and Sport England.

It is important, because of the limited funds, that any successful grant bids are for projects which contribute to the Vale Community Strategy and the quality of community life.

Grants are agreed by the four area committees for the Abingdon Area, the North East, the South East and the West. Each Area Committee has produced a Prospectus to provide guidance on the types of projects, services and events that it is keen to support. You can download them here:
